Hellooo! My name is Ciara, I am 17 years old, and I am a Leo. I am not shy at all and I love attending events that include some type of young parent support. It is a great feeling to be around people who go through or have similar situations as your own.
I got pregnant at the age of 16. I was a junior in high school. After taking 3 pregnancy tests (first one was at McDonalds, lol). I was still in denial about being pregnant but I knew from the start that I was keepin my baby. A lot of people (family and friends) doubted I would stay in school. I would miss a day and the rumors would go around that I dropped out. I knew that having a baby would require me to make sacrifices but I never said it would end my life because I knew it was not true! I had a healthy pregnancy overall and a pretty cool birth experience. I loved the hospital!!! My son’s name is Jayden Alexander and he was born on June 29th. He is my trikitiki de mami! 🙂
I am a busy person for the most part. I am currently a senior and ready for graduation coming up on June 9th!! Although I work and go to school, I still manage to have my breaks and fun/alone time. Wanting a break does not mean your a bad parent ! It may be hard sometimes but always know you are not going through it alone, believe me. As a Young Parent Ambassador I am here to support you and available to any type of venting you may need.

Good for you, Ciara. I hate the “your life is ruined” narrative society promotes – self fulfilling prophecy, much?? I was a teen Mum too and it did not end my life – if anything, it motivated me and made me even more determined! I always wanted to be a professional writer, so went to university, taking my son with me. It was hard, especially when society kept telling me how I was good for nothing and my son would never amount to anything. But ten years on I am the professional writer I always wanted to be, plus my son is a teenager himself and doing well in school himself. I have always told him – and now my other children too – he can do anything he puts his mind to. He has big plans, which is fab to see.
Good for you Ciara! Trust your instincts. You are the best thing you can every give your son! He is adorable. I wish I had your strength when I was your age and in your position.
